Will you sign and share the petition to block Rex Tillerson's appointment for secretary of state?

I'm Sarah Rasmussen of Greenpeace, and I started a petition to the United States Senate, which says:

I am deeply concerned by Donald Trump's nomination of Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of state. As your constituent, I am urging you to stand on the side of the American people in opposing this nomination and voting to block Tillerson's confirmation.

As if a cabinet of white nationalists, climate deniers, and Wall Street billionaires wasn't enough, Trump nominated Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson to serve as the next secretary of state.

Yes, that Exxon.

The same Exxon that knew about climate change as early as the 1970s and spent the next four decades spreading climate denial.¹ The same Exxon that has spent millions to block climate action so it can drill for oil all over the world. The same Exxon that has routinely put its profits above people and the environment.

Send a message to your senators today asking them to stand up to Exxon and block Tillerson's confirmation as secretary of state!

As the CEO of Exxon, Tillerson has consistently put his business interests above the well-being of the American people—as his cozy relationship with Vladimir Putin, who awarded him one of Russia's highest honor, reflects. He has gone so far as to publicly criticize sanctions on Russia, undermining U.S. international leadership to protect his own business dealings with Putin.²

If he becomes secretary of state, Tillerson would have immense power to spread the fossil fuel industry's polluting agenda as official U.S. foreign policy. But it's not set in stone yet.

This is urgent! The Senate can still block Tillerson's nomination—and it's up to YOU to make sure they do.
