Stop Trump's #SwampCabinet (Tuesday near you)

We need to do all we can to stop Republicans from confirming Trump's #SwampCabinet nominees. Sign up today to attend a rally at your senator's office and make sure they and the media hear our heartfelt opposition to Trump's nominees.

Dear New York MoveOn member,

Donald Trump has just been sworn in. We have no time to waste in stopping his hateful agenda in its tracks. Millions will be marching in Washington, D.C. and in hundreds of cities nationwide tomorrow, reminding the country that the majority of Americans didn't choose Trump and have a different, progressive, and inclusive vision for our future.

This Tuesday, January 24—only the second full day of work for Congress under the new president—MoveOn members are taking action at peaceful, legal, powerful rallies at our senators' local offices in every state to say: Stop Trump's #SwampCabinet.

Will you attend the local rally at Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand's office in New York this Tuesday, January 24, to Stop Trump's #SwampCabinet and make your voice heard against the tide of horrifying picks?

Here is the rally information for Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand's office:

Event: Rally to Resist Trump's Nominees
Tuesday, January 24, 12:00 PM
Senators Chuck Schumer's and Kirsten Gillibrand's New York District Offices
New York, NY

There has been some success slowing down some of the #SwampCabinet nominees, but Senate Republicans are still bent on pushing through Trump’s #SwampCabinet picks as quickly as they can.1

But Democrats have the power to prevent this.

If Democrats can hold the line and delay confirmations for these cabinet picks, Americans can learn more about each nominee, and the real threat they pose to us all. It will give us time to sway a handful of Republicans who can help stop these confirmations. And every day and month that these nominees are delayed is time that the Senate isn’t spending dismantling the Affordable Care Act, giving tax breaks to corporations, and implementing other parts of their destructive agenda. But we need to make sure every Democratic senator is on board and that a few Republicans are given good reason to oppose these picks.

The fight to protect frontline communities and the working class is happening now. We need to fortify Democratic senators for this fight—and let Republican senators know they'll be held accountable for confirming such dangerous nominees. That's why MoveOn members along with Working Families Party and People’s Action are organizing these rallies as part of #ResistTrumpTuesdays.

Can you join us at a rally at Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand's office in New York’s this Tuesday, January 24th, to make sure all senators know that the American people want to stop Trump's #SwampCabinet?

We'll be sending all Democrats the message that they have strong constituent support to—and indeed that we expect them to—use every tool at their disposal to delay and defeat these nominations, including demanding roll call votes and denying unanimous consent.

For Republicans, we'll send the message that they can still say no to this group of Cabinet members who will bankrupt our nation and destroy our communities for the enrichment of billionaires and corporations. And we'll let them know that if they refuse, then they are standing with the worst of this #SwampCabinet and will be held accountable.

While the Senate is our main focus, as that's where Cabinet confirmations happen, we also know that major decisions about the Affordable Care Act are being made in the House, and that corporate actors like Bank of America also need to feel public pressure, so some partners are organizing actions at representatives' offices or corporate offices.

This is happening now and there is no time to waste: sign up now to attend a Stop Trump’s #SwampCabinet rally at your senator’s local office next Tuesday.

Thanks for all you do.

—Chris, Vicki, Gabby, Katie, and the rest of the team

P.S. Many of us are marching peacefully tomorrow, and finding the community, support, and motivation to turn up the heat. If you are marching or supporting the Women's March and Sister Marches in some way, thank you! Next, will you also join us at Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand's office Tuesday?
