Save the EPA's children's health expert

Donald Trump's EPA just put the head of the Office of Children's Health on indefinite administrative leave without giving a reason.

Donald Trump's EPA just put the head of the Office of Children's Health on indefinite administrative leave, the latest in its efforts to eliminate the office entirely.¹ Without the Office of Children's Health Protection, there is no-one at the EPA focused on how toxins and air pollutants uniquely affect our youngest and most vulnerable population. 

Protect children from harmful chemicals. Demand reinstatement of the EPA's head of the Office of Children's Health Protection.

My son is only 5 years old, and he, along with all American children, deserves to live in a country that puts children first.  The Office of Children's Health Protection was established in 1997 because kids' developing bodies are more vulnerable to pollutants and chemicals. Children are uniquely susceptible to pesticides and other environmental chemicals, and such exposure is linked to a myriad of pediatric illnesses and diseases^.2

Now it seems that the Trump administration is trying to eliminate the office altogether. Dr. Ruth Etzel, a children's environmental health leader who has led the EPA office since 2015, was placed on leave with no reason given.³ The removal of Dr. Etzel follows months of reducing the staff and resources of the office.

Children deserve a healthy future. Removing the EPA's Office of Children's Health Protection puts all our children at risk.
