On Monday, a gunman carrying an AR-15 walked into a grocery store in Boulder, CO, and killed 10 people. 

Just days before, another gunman, fueled by white supremacy and misogyny, purchased a 9 mm handgun and opened fire in three massage parlors in Atlanta, killing eight people, including six Asian American women. Over 4,000 people in the U.S. have already lost their lives to gun violence this year alone.¹

Enough. It's time to enact bold, federal laws to end gun violence in America. 

Which is why MoveOn is pushing harder than ever to end the filibuster so that Congress can finally pass gun control legislation and other critical laws that will keep our communities safe and build an America where everyone can thrive.

House Democrats have already passed sweeping gun reform legislation, including one bill that would require background checks for gun purchases and another bill that aims to reduce police gun violence.²

But those bills are being obstructed in the Senate due to the filibuster—an arcane and racist rule that allows the Republican minority to block the Democratic majority from passing critical laws.

For the first time in a decade, Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House, giving us our best shot in years to enact ambitious gun control legislation. We can't let the GOP Senate minority stop us from doing so. 

It's time to act. It's time to end the filibuster. It's time to pass gun control legislation and help end the gun violence epidemic in the U.S.
