Dear fellow MoveOn member,
Long-term care is a necessity for those who are unable to perform the activities of daily living on their own and require safe and caring services to live.
Yet the absence of coverage under Medicare for long-term care is one of the biggest and most tragic omissions in the care it pays for, oftentimes leaving those who require long-term care in the position where they and their immediate families are forced to liquidate all their possessions in order to pay for care, until they finally become eligible for Medicaid—if that's even an option for them. This is simply unacceptable.
All across the U.S., care facilities are notoriously fraught with nightmarish inadequacies, a reality that is demonstrated by federal and state-level review processes.
Medicare's covering long-term care will impose new levels of accountability, increased accessibility, and will allow patients to receive a higher standard of care.
Thanks!
