Climate change is real (petition)

Tell all members of Congress to speak up immediately to recognize that climate change is real and requires a political response to save future generations.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

United Nations science experts on climate change issued a critical report that says we have to do something to stop climate change immediately. As The New York Times reports, the latest warning "describes a world of worsening food shortages and wildfires, and a mass die-off of coral reefs as soon as 2040—a period well within the lifetime of much of the global population."1

Sign my petition demanding that all elected officials take action immediately to read the report, agree that climate change is real, and commit to curb the human-caused impact of climate change.

Sign the petition if you agree that all elected officials need to publicly acknowledge the reality of climate change and work diligently to reduce the dangerous trend of increasing global temperature.

If there is one thing that we all should be able to agree on as massive storms like Hurricane Michael grow all too common, it is this: Climate change is real.

The scientific evidence needs to be taken seriously, but Donald Trump skeptically said he knew the report exists but added: "I want to look at who drew it. You know, which group drew it. Because I can give you reports that are fabulous, and I can give you reports that aren't so good."2

The fact is the United Nations report included analysis of 6,000 scientific studies and was issued with the help of 91 scientists from 40 countries.3

Trump and all those politicians who remain in denial of climate science are ignoring the facts, because they're in the pocket of corporate lobbyists, but we must make this urgent moment a turning point.

Let's unite our country around this issue.

Thank you.
