TONIGHT: Emergency vigils to stop Kavanaugh

Can you spend one hour tonight to help make sure Brett Kavanaugh never—ever—sits on the U.S. Supreme Court? While sending a powerful message that you believe women and will stand up to a man and a political party that degrades and assaults women?

Dear New York MoveOn member,

Can you spend one hour tonight to help make sure Brett Kavanaugh never—ever—sits on the U.S. Supreme Court? While sending a powerful message that you believe women and will stand up to a political party and a man who degrades and assaults women?

The Senate could vote to to confirm Kavanaugh as soon as Friday, without a thorough FBI investigation. That's why tonight we are holding emergency are vigils and protests across the country. Together, we will send a message to Congress—especially on-the-fence senators—and to the media that Kavanaugh must never, ever be confirmed.

Please click here to say you'll join in to these powerful events led by neighbors and dozens of partner organizations. (And if you don't see one, you can easily decide to host one in your community—more events are being added every hour.)

If you can't make it to a vigil tonight, you can call your senators right now and demand they say no to Kavanaugh. Democrats who oppose Kavanaugh need to hear that constituents have their back for in this fight. Republicans who support him need to know they will be held accountable. And the few undecided senators need to understand the monumental stakes and incredible constituent opposition to this nomination. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, one of the critical votes in this fight, has reported that the "unprecedented" call volume on Kavanaugh has surpassed the volume her office received before the attempt to repeal teh Affordable Care Act. Senators are taking notice—we must keep the calls going.

Here's where to call:

  • Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

Click here to let us know you called so we can report out to media and Senate staff the eruption of constituent energy.

Remember, at the beginning of last week, we all feared that Kavanaugh's nomination was a done deal orchestrated by Trump and a small cadre of Senate Republican leaders.

But then a nation erupted with a mixture of anger and determination—all focused on blocking an unfit, accused sexual assailant who has repeatedly lied before Congress from being handed a lifetime seat on the most powerful court in our nation—and took action in support of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick.

People power won the day. Now—one day after Trump, horrifyingly, insulted survivors and openly mocked the decent, courageous, and dignified Dr. Blasey Ford—it's absolutely critical that we keep stoking the intensity of our actions and turning up the fire in our resolve.

Please say you'll attend a vigil tonight, October 3. (Vigils are being added every hour; if you don't see one near you, you can start one or check back later.)

If you can't join—or even if you can—please pick up the phone so every senator knows the stakes don't get higher than this fight and that constituents demand an end to these offensive nomination proceedings.

Kavanaugh would rule for a generation against reproductive freedom, health care, the environment, voting rights, workers' rights, LGBTQ rights, and immigrant rights, while siding with big corporations, Big Money, and the Trump agenda. Senators in all 50 states must listen to their constituents, do their jobs to uphold the will of the people, protect the soul of our country and Constitution, and block this nomination.

Senate Republicans are moving ahead with procedural votes today to push forward this nomination. They could vote to confirm Kavanaugh as soon as Friday. They aren't waiting for a thorough investigation. There is no time to waste. Now is the moment.

Let's stand together to #StopKavanaugh. Sign up now to say you'll be there.

Thanks for all you do.

Here is what Michael Moore has to say about MoveOn: "MoveOn is working around the clock to help organize and turn out volunteers to get out the vote in November. I know that MoveOn members like you are moving heaven and earth to win this election. We're the majority. But we need to rise up. That's the only way out of this mess." Will you chip in $3 a week to help win this election? (MoveOn will contact you shortly after Election Day to see if you want to modify or cancel your donation.)

Yes, I'll chip in weekly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a weekly donation.
