Dear MoveOn member,
Vitally important races and winnable races around the country are at risk today in places where voters are facing severe weather. Thunderstorms. Driving rain. Even a few tornado warnings. The kind of weather that keeps people from heading to the polls.
We can win in every one of these races—if our supporters turnout.
You'll be calling almost all known supporters: people who support progressive champions. We just need to get them out to vote before polls close. Our personal contact could overcome the weather or any other hesitation they may be feeling.
You'll be calling voters in races rated as tossups, which means that these races could go either way, like Andy Kim in New Jersey, Elaine Luria in Virginia, and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Florida. And Aftab Pureval in Ohio. His race is lean Republican. But we think he has a great chance, if we get out the vote today.
And then there's Jess King. Her supporters live in deep, rural Pennsylvania. Voters in Jess' district can be miles and miles from polling spots, so calling them to encourage them to make the effort, especially with the terrible weather, could be what leads Jess to victory today.
Voter turnout WILL decide how these races go! Which is why we're asking:
Bernie Sanders said it well:
"In this election, 2018, we have learned our lesson. We're not going to have the lowest midterm voter turnout in history, we're going to have the highest."
Thanks for all you do.–Allison, Jessica, Matt, Kate and the rest of the MoveOn Elections team
