Dear MoveOn member,
When MoveOn members launched the campaign urging Elizabeth Warren to run for president last month, it was met with a wave of excitement from activists, the media, and even members of Congress—and that excitement's been growing day by day.
The reason why is simple: We have a chance to shape the presidential debate that'll define the Democratic Party of 2016 and beyond, and perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to recruit a candidate with vision and a track record of fighting for working- and middle-class families into the race for president.
That's why the more people learn about Elizabeth Warren—her stand against the big banks, her concern for Middle America, and her innovative ideas for the country—the more they want her to run.
After an incredible stretch in December in which Senator Warren was all over the news for leading the charge against another unqualified Wall Street banker's taking a key position at the Treasury Department, we need to keep the momentum going. People are increasingly hearing about the amazing work that Warren is doing but many haven't yet heard about this movement and about how we can mount a grassroots effort to get her to run. So members are hitting the streets this week to go flyering and to host "honk and wave" events. We'll gather at major intersections with Run Warren Run signs asking drivers to honk their horns and wave if they want Elizabeth Warren to run for president.
Part of laying the groundwork for Senator Warren to make a successful run is increasing her name recognition and voters' interest in her work—and this is a sure-fire way to do that.
It's easy to understand why people get excited when they learn about Senator Warren. She came from a working-class family in small-town America, mastered bankruptcy law to help others get by, and then went on to land a job teaching at Harvard. She proposed, and then created, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that's returned hundreds of millions of dollars to consumers ripped off by the big banks and other corporations. And she's brought forth bill after bill in the Senate to help restore balance to America's economy—to give all of our families a fighting chance.
Now it's up to us—the nearly 200,000 people who've already joined the call for Elizabeth Warren to run—to spread the word about this incredible woman who could very well be the next president of the United States.
Whether you want to plan a classic grassroots publicity stunt like a "honk and wave," head out flyering one afternoon, or print out a sign and put it in your window, we've got you covered. Check out the action guide today, download all the materials and instructions you'll need, and—when you're done—shoot us a few photos or post them to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with #RunWarrenRun so we can show the world how this movement is growing. All of the details you need are right here.
Thanks for all you do.
