A MoveOn member named Pamela Krimsky recently created a petition on our public petition website entitled "Stop Niagara Bottling Company!"—and we'd like to know what you think of it.
The petition is addressed to Mayor Shane Gallo and Common Council Members, Mayor and Aldermen and Shane Hallo and Members of the City of Kingston Common Council, and reads:
We, People of the area, object to the Common Council of the City of Kingston, NY, granting rights to Niagara Bottling Company. The company wants to remove more than 1.5 million gallons each day from Cooper Lake, the source of water for the City of Kingston as well as Woodstock, NY.
During this time of increasing climate dysfunction, the probability of a severe drought, such as the one of 2012 is likely and People object to the use of our water for profit.
Here's what Pamela wrote about it:
We, the People, are working to stop this sale because it is against the best interests of the people.
Can you click to let us know what you think?
We'll decide whether to send this petition out to additional MoveOn members in your area based on your feedback.
In case you haven't heard about it, MoveOn's petition site allows anyone to start an online petition and share it with friends and neighbors to build support for their cause.
Thanks for all you do.
